Giants Women vs Leeds Rhinos | Match Preview

Lori Halloran’s Giants Women return to Laund Hill this Sunday (2pm) victorious in this MND Association-dedicated fixture in memory of Rob Burrow CBE.

PREVIOUS FIXTURES ⚔️

The Giants recently took on the Rhinos in both League and Cup, losing both times since the infamous 20-16 win at Headingley.

In BWSL, Zoe Hornby and Evie Cousins’ hat-tricks bludgeoned the visitor's hopes of an upset. A consolation try from Amelia Brown on the right was the only recorded effort on the day.

There was also a much more closely contested battle in the Cup with Leeds putting 54 points on the Giants’ 10.

GIANTS WOMEN GUIDE 📖

Looking to rectify recent form, there was no better time to record the first win in the 2024 Betfred Women’s Super League season.

Debutant and former Rover Jess Dadds made the first move with a well-deserved 4-pointer over the line. Mollie Iceton early in the set - who picked up a try in the second half - proved her worth with a quick 60m sprint to back Dadds.

Lois Naidole made her return to the starting team after a short injury lay-off with a brace, and recently selected Origin winger Amelia Brown was also over the line.

Frankie Townend kicked 3 goals from 6 with one of her own tries in the mix at Featherstone.

Lori Halloran has named her 21-Player Squad, which can be found here.

THE OPPOSITION 🦏

The Rhinos are hurt. Nilled at Wembley in the Cup final versus Saints, they’ll be looking to bounce back.

They’re hurt physically too, with injuries to key players such as Ruby Enright and Bethan Dainton. They've called upon former Giant Elychia Watson and their Academy duo of Grace Short and Tilly Jae Brown.

With landslide wins over the Cumbrians and Warrington, the only challenges they have faced in the League so far have been Saints (12-6 defeat) and York (16-10 win).

Lois Forsell has named her 21-Player Squad, which can be found here.
